Melton Olympic riders racing season is in full swing with Local and

East midlands events being staged.

Melton’s first time trial took place on the Ashby Pastures circuit, heavy rain greeted the riders on Wednesday night reducing the field   to 8 hardy riders. Despite difficult conditions James Ison produced a great time of 21 minutes 17 seconds to take first place on   scratch, followed in by his dad Gary with Kevin Body completing the top 3.

Chris Schofield took first place on Handicap with James and Gary Ison’s times fast enough to complete the podium.

The riders would all like to thank Ken Clarke and Bill Stanley for organising and Paul,Bill,Tina, Lawrence and Steve for   Marshaling duties on a filthy night.

Notts and North Midlands veterans time trial association staged a ten mile race at Long Bennington. Mick Stevens was the only   Melton rider to enter and it proved a good decision as he produced his fastest time 22mins 54 secs since returning to racing, Micks   time got him to third place on handicap.

Sunday 5th saw Sherwood Cycling club organise a 20 mile time trial on a hilly course tackled twice by all competitors. Mick Stevens   and James Ison entered from Melton, James took a brilliant victory in 44 mins 20 seconds, Mick also came in the top ten in 53.19   both riders keeping the melton flag flying high in the early season events.
