Melton Olympic’s first Mid week time trial on the Wymondham circuit took place last Wednesday in perfect weather conditions for a change. The improved conditions brought out a bigger field of riders with fast times throughout.
Steve Savage( Leicester road club) posted the quickest time on the night. The fastest Melton rider was again James Ison, with Stuart Faver in second. Chris Walker competing in his first club time trial for years came in third.
After Handicaps were applied Gary Ison took first place, beating his son James into second with Kevin Body completing the podium. Thanks to Norman and Bill for Time keeping and starting, and Paul,Lawrence,Eddy,Andrew,Bill and Tina for marshalling duties.
Saturday saw the VTTA open 25 mile time trial on the A25/34 course at East Stoke. 120 riders entered, Melton’s James Ison completed the course in 51 mins 8 secs a personal best to finish in 11th place. Mick Stevens posted 57mins 41 secs to come in 3rd place in his age category, Debbie Shaw’s time was a creditable 1hour 11 mins in her first race of the season.
